It didn't look like that much when it was all in a heap in the guest room. Really.
I'm pretty sure its mass or volume or whatever magically doubled the second we tried to cram it all into our three suitcases. But, crammed it is... We won't discuss all the space bags, or the rather peculiar-looking method used to expel every last tidbit of air.
Whoa. We are packed.
Three checked bags, three carry ons.
I think that's pretty stinkin' impressive, considering all the crap we have to bring for a three-week trip with vastly different weather in Beijing and Guangzhou.
And considering all the random items we've got, like a vegetable peeler, and gifts for the officials and my friend Wang Meng, and toddler toys, and (ACK) Pull-Ups, and my handy-dandy Mandarin phrasebook that will let me ask how to protest privatization. Plus, y'know, some clothes and toiletries and approximately one gallon of hanitizer.
