Each week, Sarah hosts a gaggle of the street people chicks to watch Top Chef*. It may be low key, but it's become my favorite part of the week. I get to catch up on gossip, eat, drink, and watch a bunch of people make some really unwise food choices. Ceviche in the desert? Um, nothankyou.
Because we have some sort of sickness on this street, no one shows up empty handed to any sort of gathering. I choked the first night and didn't have any of my usual snack-type stuff on hand. A rummage through the pantry turned up... popcorn, and since we always have buttah and salt (well, except for that time last month when it had been so long since I'd grocery shopped that we really did run out of salt), a plan was made. I wandered down the street with a ginormous bowl of hot, buttered popcorn and left 90 minutes later with an empty bowl and a mission: a new flavor of popcorn each week.
I've done traditional popcorn, ranch popcorn, and popcorn with rosemary, garlic, and parm. During bacon week (did I mention we have themes?) I made a bacon/cheese popcorn that was surprisingly tasty in small doses.
Now? Now I'm stuck. I'm in a popcorn slump.
I've got 4 hours to think up a new and tasty seasoning using whatever random crap I've got in my kitchen. Any suggestions?
*She DVRs it and we watch it a day later.
