Every week, Miss O's class has a spelling pre-test with 28 regular words and several challenge words.
The kids don't study for the pre-test, and their results determine the words that will be on the actual spelling test each Friday.
Per usual, Miss O's pre-test came home today, proving yet again that I will never, ever understand how her brain works.
She missed only one word. While she spelled all of the challenge words (squeak, rocket, basket, package, and knock) correctly, she misspelled fork.
Let me repeat that: FORK. If she had her way, we'd be tacking an E on the end to make it extra French and fancy: forke.
"How does she know the word knock but not the word fork?" you might ask. And I? Would have no good answer for that.
[P.S. This weekend Lauren and I challenged her to spell extravaganza after she used it in a sentence. She did it. Yet, she cannot spell fork. I don't even pretend to understand...]
